More than 50,000 SFUSD students have not stepped into a classroom for over a year, and half of these kids qualify for free or reduced lunch. These students are facing learning-loss and other traumas with life-long consequences. Students will benefit from structure, fun, safety, and community of summer camp.
We started Renegade Girls to address the huge imbalance of women in STEM. In 2017, we added a coed program, and in 2019, we converted to a 501(c)(3) to expand our outreach to more kids who can't afford camp. If we reach kids when they are in elementary school, we can add to their confidence so that they pursue STEM subjects in middle and high school. Our kids report increased comfort with engineering and science, and visualizing themselves as future tech people.
Please help us support and empower at-risk, low-income students by funding local children to attend camp. All donations will go directly to summer camp scholarships for students and are tax deductible. Camp costs $500/week and runs 9 weeks for the summer. Your donation, whether $4500 for a kid all summer, $500 for a kid for a week, or $20, increases our reach to kids who cannot afford camp.
