Camp Returns for Summer 2021!
The Renegade Girls Tinkering Club is thrilled to announce our return with a 3-week OUTDOOR camp pod program for summer 2021! Renegade Girls has conferred with the San Francisco Department of Health on summer camp requirements this coming summer, known at OST, and will launch 3 week sessions in stable cohorts of 12 - 14 kids.
To keep camp as safe as possible for our Renegades and Renegade Leaders, we are retooling our beloved hands-on experience. After a long year trapped inside, it will be refreshing to don our masks, stay distanced, and enjoy the great outdoors and all our beautiful city has to offer. Renegade campers in 2021 will do an outdoor morning project utilizing, celebrating, or exploring the great outdoors, then spend the afternoon hiking, discussing the natural world, and practicing their scientific observation skills. As an added bonus, all campers will receive a complementary copy of The Renegade Spy Project, the first book in our new fiction novel series.

More than 50,000 SFUSD students have not stepped into a classroom for over a year, and half of these kids qualify for free or reduced lunch. These students are facing learning-loss and other traumas with life-long consequences. Students will benefit from structure, fun, safety, and community of summer camp.
We started Renegade Girls to address the huge imbalance of women in STEM and converted to a 501(c)(3) to enable both coed and girls only programs for low income kids. We’ve hired a top notch team to run our STEM camps. But the program requires funding to enable low income kids to attend.
Please help us support and empower at-risk, low-income students by funding local children to attend camp. All donations will go directly to summer camp scholarships for students and are tax deductible.

What campers are saying
"We have tried many different camps in the city, and I can honestly say my daughter likes the Renegade Girls Tinkering camp the best. From the engaging projects to the wonderful teachers, my daughter was very excited about attending everyday. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended." - EK, parent |
"Vicky and her group of teachers are awesome! My 6 year old loved their Veterans Day camp, and we'll definitely be booking another one. She came home with a few great inventions and the girls were super welcoming to her." - JL, parent |
Renegades go FictionAL!

The Renegade Girls Tinkering Club is excited to announce the next chapter in our quest to foster girls’ love of STEM: The Renegade Girls Tinkering Club fiction books!
Terri Selting David, co-founder, curriculum writer, and chief of content development at Renegades presents the first book in her new series aimed at 8-12 year old girls who love STEM and making things.
The Renegade Girls Tinkering Club series follows four clever girls as they enter middle school and try to figure out their futures while tinkering up some fun. The reader can build inventions alongside Wren, Ivy, Amber, and Kammie in this book about finding your path in the chaos of middle school, with the help of a little science and engineering. As the Renegades invent their way into and out of trouble, the instructions for the inventions are illustrated graphic-novel style in the chapters so readers can build them too, as they learn about amazing women from history, science and engineering concepts, and even get inspired to use STEM processes, such as the Engineering Design Process, to help them solve their own daily challenges.
